If you’re curious, I’d love to tell you how at the beginning of March I decided 2020 would be the perfect time for some change.
When 2020 began I felt this was going to be “my year”, like so many people. My wedding season was filled with amazing couples and designs. My schedule was perfectly curated to have a sprinkle of work-life balance that I craved for so long, and I was so pumped to start planning my wedding!
Back in January, I came up with what my theme for the year would be. I usually liked to pair this concept down to a “word of the year”. It’s something I’ve done for the longest time as a way to set an intention for the months ahead and a way to stay focused on achieving my goals. 2020s theme/word was calm.
The funny thing is, once this pandemic started and weddings stopped, I realized that it wasn’t calm that I craved.
It was change.
So many things in my personal and professional life, and even society as a whole, was changing. I felt there are two ways I can approach all this turbulence; I can resist it and hold tight to what was, or embrace it and see the opportunity that could be. I chose to approach life with the latter.
With the concept of change in mind, the next question was, “where to start”? At this point, my website didn’t feel inspiring to me and lacked the clarity of who we are as a brand; quite frankly, so did our current logo and business cards. Change was going to start with a new website and branding for Thistle Bee.
I wanted a design that embodied who we are now as a design company, and who we see ourselves growing in the future.
After some recommendations from other vendors in the area and some website creeping myself, I came across the extremely talented, kind, and thorough team at Alisabeth Designs. They are a team of incredible women with an eye for design and customer service that spoke to my heart.
I can easily say choosing to work with their company was one of the best decisions I could have made for us to grow as I envisioned. It was a leap of faith to invest in our business, especially when our industry and income was coming to a halt. But it was worth the risk, because I know we’d make it through.
This time of change makes me realize how much I fully believe in our company. We are strong, resilient, and kind people that lead with compassion for our clients. We will use every ounce of creativity to serve our clients and all that join our Thistle Bee family. I think our new branding represents that.
Leave a comment below letting us know what element or aspect speaks to you! Tell us your favorite parts of the new design and website. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the blog (which has been totally revamped)!
Lastly, I wanted to thank everyone on our team that’s rallied together during this uncertain time. I wanted to especially thank Kathleen, who was a part of every step of this rebrand, giving feedback, and using her impeccable sense of design to make sure the new look was perfect. I also wanted to thank all of our couples who have been so collaborative and communicative during a time that makes planning a wedding so difficult. Many of you have handled this with poise, grace, and grit that is to be revered!
So cheers to a year that didn’t go as planned, but was filled with so many lessons, love, and change that we needed 🎉
Much love & happiness,
KH
