Kaitlyn and Matthew were one of our first couples that celebrated under the newly coined term, “micro wedding”. Their original May 2020 wedding was affected and rescheduled due to COVID, but we decided to move forward and create a beautiful backdrop and celebration with their closest family & friends on their original date.
So on that beautiful May 2020 date, we brought a small piece of their wedding dream to life and these two lovely people were able to get married!!
Kaitlyn and Matthew met back in high school and have the sweetest love story; you could easily see that happiness and joy being exuded in every picture their photographer captured!
Matthew proposed to Kaitlyn during the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC. She told me that the favorite part of their proposal was being surrounded by the beautiful trees and the water to make for the perfect nature-filled backdrop. So, of course, we wanted to draw inspiration from where they feel most at peace: surrounded by nature.
For their wedding design, Kaitlyn loves Sunflowers and the color purple. A perfect color palette and style that bring cheers and sunshine to anyone that sees it! With all this inspiration that we had planned for their big day, it was a joy to give a “sampling” of what would come for their new date when everyone would be able to get together to celebrate.
The couple mentioned to me that the upside of being a couple whose wedding plans were affected by the pandemic was getting to celebrate their love twice!
Enjoy these photos by Olivia Haag. She did a wonderful job of capturing this special day and we can’t wait to celebrate again with this sweet couple!
