Summer Wedding at the Olde Mill Inn | Karly & Mike

Hi, Karly here! Before I became Thistle Bee’s Admin Assistant and Social Media Manager, I had the pleasure of being a Thistle Bee bride. My husband, Mike, and I got married on a beautiful summer day at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ.

Mike and I met in the most romantic place New Jersey has to offer…Atlantic City. At the time we met, we were living three hours away from each other, but we decided to give long distance a try. Each weekend for almost four years, we traveled to each other and spent the weekend together. The endless hours stuck in traffic and dreaded goodbyes each Monday morning were all worth it. In August, Mike (and our golden retriever, Buddy) proposed at the Barnegat Lighthouse on Long Beach Island.

One of the hardest parts about wedding planning was finding vendors that matched your vision of the day, but Katherine immediately knew what I was looking for and made the entire planning process so easy. She made you feel like all her attention was invested in you and your wedding.

Although my color scheme must have changed 5 times before our final call, what didn’t change was wanting flowers that enhanced the naturally romantic and cozy feel of Olde Mill Inn. Katherine created just that feel throughout the reception, with beautiful greenery garlands adorning the tables and a stunning sweetheart table arrangement. While Mike let me handle most of the flower decisions, his one request was floating candles, which added to the romantic feel of the greenery and flowers. One of my favorite details of the day was my hand-tied bridal bouquet with the perfect pop of bright pink for the summertime.

Mike and I were so happy to be starting off our marriage surrounded by the greatest family and friends. We couldn’t have survived long-distance dating, COVID, and wedding planning without the love and support of everyone in our lives.
