From mismatched bridesmaid dresses to single-flower bouquets, these are just some of the trends we will be seeing from couples in 2023. On top of a super-personalized wedding, brides and grooms will continue to find ways to create a sustainable wedding that is environmentally concise. We love the top trends for 2023 and can’t wait to see what our 2023 Thistle Bee Couples have in store for the new year.
Brides and grooms are looking for a natural, organic look for their weddings in 2023. From the invitations to the ceremony decor, we are seeing the trend of a minimalistic approach to all aspects of the wedding. A minimalistic wedding adopts a “less is more” mentality. Couples are creating an exclusive guest list and cutting down the size of their bridal parties to create a cozier event.
Mismatched bridesmaid dresses have been growing in popularity since 2020. We see that it’s almost the norm now for brides to let their bridesmaids pick dresses that they are most comfortable with in the bride-approved color combination. We personally love the look of everyone in a different style and hope this trend is here to stick around.

Although we see many brides still creating wedding Pinterest boards, we find more and more brides are now turning to TikTok and Instagram for wedding inspiration. Brides are being fed multiple wedding planning TikToks a day, causing an overwhelming amount of information and inspiration. Remember to save the videos you like while scrolling and save them to return to later.

It’s all in the details in 2023! Couples are looking for ways to make their wedding unique and special, and are opting for personalized details like custom invitations, monogrammed napkins, and custom favors. Couples use details as an opportunity to include fun facts about themselves or to incorporate their furry friends who couldn’t make it to the nuptials.

One of our favorite ways of personalizing the reception is naming the tables after places that are significant to you as a couple.
More couples are looking for ways to reduce their environmental impact and celebrate their special day in an eco-friendly way. This could include locally sourced organic food, a focus on natural decor, and upcycled materials. Find wedding vendors that rent decor to help reduce what is being thrown out. A big item to look out for are candles—candles have a burn time of 40+ hours so renting “pre-loved” candles will add to the romantic ambiance, reduce your cost, and help keep the decor out of the landfill at the end of the night.
When looking for a venue, find a venue whose overall decor and style match your own and make it yours with some additional decor and flowers to create impact pieces throughout the venue that highlight the style that’s already there. When choosing flowers for your arrangements, work with your florist to select blooms that are in season.
If you plan on hosting a buffet dinner for your guests, see if your caterer will allow you to donate any extra food to a local food shelter or will allow for to-go meals to be given to guests to enjoy as a late-night treat!
Here are some wedding flower trends we’re already seeing for 2023.
Colorful bouquets are back for 2023. In 2022, we saw a lot of neutral tones, but it’s looking like brides are opting for a pop of color in the new year.
Floral arches are a great way to add an eye-catching and romantic feel to your wedding day. Whether you opt for a traditional arch of flowers or create something more unique, they are sure to make a memorable moment.
